TO QUIT OR NOT TO QUIT THAT IS THE QUESTION

Does my job suck?

I am trying to decide if I should quit my job. I am a manager but for the last few months my boss has been slowly taking away my responsibilites and micromanaging me. It is driving me to drink! I have never been a huge drinker but the last few months... I can drink a bottle of wine and not get a buzz. (I wish I did!!) I just don't get it she tells me how she feels like she is held hostage in her office with all the reports she needs to do. I have asked her several times what I can do to help her. "Let me figure out what I can have you do" is always her response. It's not like I just started I have been here for over a year. AHHH... It is so frustrating to sit back and do nothing. I had a complaint from a person I brought it to her attention and she has done nothing about it!! If it was 3 months ago I would have sent the complaint to the appropriate person and it would have been dealt with. But NO.... I have to send all of my requests to her now! WTF!

Wow!! This is a great place to vent :)

Thanks!

Should I quit?

Should I leave my job and stay home with my kids again?

That sounds just like my now former manager, only my manager drove me to the therapist's office. Strangely enough I never had a problem with her until I told her I was seeking treatment for bipolar disorder. After that day she treated me like a little kid and let me go just this week. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all answer for this kind of situation, but my personal philosophy is that you come first and work comes second. Check with your state labor board because in some states you can still file for unemployment even if you quit your job as long as the circumstances warrant. If you can afford to leave and still pay the bills, then do it. If not, try to find alternative arrangements before giving your notice.

If this job is causing you to drink in acess then you must think is it really worth putting yourself at risk of becoming ill from the stress of it. If you can afford to leave this job I would say do so your health always comes first and foremost over any job. Take care and good luck!
